AML/CFT
Anti-money laundering and countering the financing of terrorism: the controls a firm runs so it is not used to move criminal or terrorist money.
Every AML/CFT regime is built on the same skeleton, set internationally by the FATF Recommendations: assess the firm’s risk, know your customer and who owns them, monitor the relationship, screen against sanctions, report suspicion and keep records. Many regimes now add CPF, countering proliferation financing.
What differs between jurisdictions is the detail: the thresholds, the timing, the forms and the guidance a supervisor expects to see followed.
