A letter from a regulator to the chief executives of a sector, setting out its concerns and what it expects firms to do about them.
Dear CEO letters are not rules, but they are read as the supervisor’s expectations. They often follow a thematic review and say what good and poor practice looked like.
Boards are expected to consider them, and an examiner will ask what the firm did in response.
